Zumba.....feedback!

Mrs L, on July 26, 2011 at 10:21 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 29

I am wanting to try "zumba" as a way of losing weight. I am not very coordinated in learning dance moves, but I hate to exercise. Do they make DVDs that you can learn and workout to before I go to the gym and look like a complete idiot?

You totally can, the dvd's are a bit expensive at least for me. The cool thing about zumba, especially if you go to a good place is that they turn the lights down. LOL so you are the only one that knows you look like a fool. At least that's how I feel. I suggest go for the experience, it's so much more fun with people! Zumba is a great way to have fun and work out at the same time.

I do Zumba 3 times a week and i HATE working out . But zumba is a TON of fun tho even if u cant dance which i cant to save my life. as long as you are moving your body thats what matters! just keep moving laugh and have fun and get work out you can have a good time with.

But yes there are Zumba DVDs there is also a Zumba video game (i recommend) for i believe all game systems (wii, PS3, Xbox) so if u have one in ur house i recommend that if u want practice before going.

I got the dvd from my library for awhile (usually there are long waiting lists) if you don't want to buy it..but i feel like for most classes at gyms in general they are pretty understanding if you are new..everyone is new at some point overall! I loved it, def saw results plus it makes you feel sexier, once you get into the moves more! :-)

I love Zumba! I'm getting my certifacte to teach classes now that this wedding stuff is over Smiley smile You'll have so much fun. Honestly, I think people are so focused on themselves and not looking like an idiot, that the don't even notice those around them.

I have never done a full "zumba" class, but did one like it before, and did a part of one in a dance class. i gotta say, even as a dancer i was getting tired by the end of the section she did. it is a great workout. one of the nice things is a lot of steps are very repetitive- so even if you don't figure it out on the first try you will have a couple more chances to get it right. it's not like a "do it right now or die" type thing.

I think a class would be better..

I have the dvds and I got bored with them after like 2 weeks.

I LOVE Zumba and HIGHLY recommend it. It's fabulous cardio and a class is so much more fun than the DVDs - everyone sort of sucks at it in the beginning and one you get the steps down it's easy and just addictive. Definitely try it.

If you have a wii...they have it for the wii and it teaches you all the moves. I did that before I went to the gym to do it. Its fun too! I go twice a week to zumba

I am under the impression that I can dance in a ridiculous manner on my own.

What makes choreographed ridiculousness any better? Especially when it's not free?

Oh I can't learn to dance either lol, which is why I do it alone.

Do you have digital cable? As a Time Warner subscriber I get Exercise TV on Demand. I'm not sure if there's a zumba one in there, but it's definitely worth checking.

I got the Zumba DVD set, but didn't get very far. It's just not my thing for music. Will probably sell them on ebay. That said, the 4-disc set could probably get you pretty far!

I am completely uncoordinated but I love Zumba classes. The games and DVDs... eh... not so much. For me, part of the fun of Zumba is the vibe.

I LOVE ZUMBA!! I take it at 24 hour fitness. The classes are free with your gym membership, so I go to Zumba and Kickboxing and I love both!!

I LOVE ZUMBA, TOO! I've been doing it for about 4 months now. I've lost inches from all sections and have seen improvements. You have to find a class/instructor you like for it to be fun. You don't have to be a dancer to do Zumba, which is the greatest part. The routines are simple, yet great. A full body workout without having to run 5 miles on the treadmill is the best! I hope you can find some classes in your area.

ZUMBA is soooo much fun! You really do not have to be coordinated to take the class. And in all the classes that I have taken, people are really enjoying themselves so they are not focused on looking at other people. The DVD's that are out there are a little pricey. Just try a class and get a spot in the back of the class if you think you will have trouble keeping up. It really does not feel like you are working out at all.
