Chantale asks: Should you ask the parents first about having their child in the wedding party?

Colleen Cook of CCS Events (Richmond, Virginia) says:The answer is a definite yes! While most parents will take it as a total honor that their fabulous little angel can be part of one of the most important days of your life, it's possible that little Johnny may have a new hang-up about being in front of people and may not be able to handle having a role in your wedding. However, parents usually love when their child is dressed to the nines, and the opportunity to get a real quality family photo - bonus points! Once the parents have approved, you can give the child a cute present to ask them to be part of your special day or even something fun to wear at the wedding like a headpiece or a "Ring Security" shirt.
