The Basics

October is the most popular month for getting married in San Antonio, according to WeddingWire data. Hill Country couples enjoy a 13-month engagement period, on average, and invite about 126 wedding guests. When it comes to hiring a team of vendors — this includes the wedding venue and other pros like a florist, cake baker, and DJ — San Antonio couples average about 13 vendors per wedding. There’s a lot of coordination required, so using a tool like our Wedding Checklist can help keep you organized as you prepare for getting married in San Antonio.

Getting There & Getting Around

San Antonio is a central location in Texas, so if many of your guests will arrive from cities like Dallas, Houston, or El Paso, driving is the most economical way to come to your wedding. For guests coming from other states, or for folks who aren’t up for a long road trip, San Antonio is accessed via San Antonio International Airport. The largest domestic airlines, including American, United, Delta, and Southwest, operate there, as well as some international airlines, like Aeromexico.

Once your guests are safely in San Antonio, a rental car is the most efficient way to get around the city and surrounding areas.

Weather

San Antonio enjoys a mild, subtropical climate, thanks to its central plains location. Summers experience the most extreme weather, with temperatures topping 90 degrees most days in June, July, and August, sometimes continuing into September and October. It doesn’t ever get too cold, and the winter months see average temperatures in the 50s. Humidity and rainfall can vary year to year, but September, October, January, March, and May each see about four days of rain while the rest of the year has three days.

Wedding Accommodations & Transportation

Make things easier on your out-of-town guests and your in-town wedding party by creating a room block at your hotel wedding venue, or somewhere nearby. Be sure there’s an affordable option for everyone by requesting multiple room blocks at various hotels with differing prices.

Beyond lodging, you’ll also want to think about who will need transportation to your wedding ceremony if you’re getting married in San Antonio. If your ceremony and reception will take place at two different venues, you might also want to provide a shared bus or car services to escort your wedding party and guests.

You can submit an application for a marriage license online, but you must go to the County Clerk’s Marriage License Department in person, located at 100 Doloresa Street in San Antonio, within five days to finish the process. Both parties need to be present and you must pay the $81 fee in cash. There’s a 72-hour waiting period between when the license is issued and when you can be married.
