WW: Congrats on your upcoming wedding, Angela! We are so excited to have you apart of our Engagement Edit series. Starting from the beginning, can you tell us about your #justsaidyes moment to your fiancé (and fellow blogger!) Jared?

AT: Thank you so much! It was long awaited, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to say yes to Jared. Jared and I had been together about 4.5 years once he proposed. He had the perfect plan. He knew if he told me to get dressed or I saw a photographer I would instantly know what was about to happen. So he recommended a photoshoot with our blog photographer, which is nothing out of the normal. We typically shoot 3-5 outfits in one shoot. On the last outfit, he said “I have a spot in mind for the last outfit!” We drove what seemed like FOREVER when we finally got there I said “hey, I think this is our spot!” This special spot is where Jared asked me to be his girlfriend when we were dating in college, from then on we went to this overlook in Fort Worth to exchange Christmas or anniversary gifts every year. He casually said “is it?” Than Margo, our photographer, wanted him to stand by myself to “test the lighting” then Margo recommend I jump in there with him for a couple shots. As soon as I walked up he got down on one knee and said “Angela Michelle Taylor, will you marry me?” I don’t remember exactly what I said, but Margo says I said “Babbbbbeee yes!” accompanied with a squeal.

WW: What has been the most exciting thing about wedding planning thus far?

AT: The most exciting part about wedding planning has been joining both of our visions. Most grooms could care less what the colors are or what the decor looks like, but Jared has been very hands on. It has been a huge relief knowing he cares and I don’t have to make all of the decisions myself. Picking out the dress was pretty fun too ;)

WW: What was the most relieving task you checked off of your wedding planning list?

AT: Picking out a DJ was the hardest task for me, so once I checked that off it was a huge relief. I teach dance on the side so I can be very picky on DJs and I found it very daunting to find someone who was in budget but also qualified.

WW: As a super-fashionable couple, how has Jared contributed to the wedding planning process?

AT: Like I said, Jared has been very involved throughout the whole process. He might be pickier than I am sometimes, but his attention to detail has been a huge help. Jared’s biggest things he was involved in was picking out the photographer which was super important to both of us, as well as linens which tends to the overall feel of the wedding. As expected, he has also been planning his attire and his groomsmen attire to a T. Every details from the pocket squares to the monogram on his shirt and how it compliments the girls attire has been planned by him.

WW: Did you find any of your vendors on WeddingWire? If so, which ones?

AT: I found the photographer (Outland Weddings) on WeddingWire which was so easy because of being able to filter by price and style along with seeing their portfolio and reading real people reviews.

WW: Have any wedding planning tools on WeddingWire been especially useful to you?

AT: The checklist has literally been my life! I am a major type A personality so having the checklist has been a lifesaver. I LOVE having exact due dates and then instant gratification of checking things off. I also love that you can add in and customize the list to fit my needs. I have the app and check my list every day to make sure I have everything on track. I haven’t got to my seating chart yet, but I am definitely looking forward to using that when I go to make my seating chart.

WW: As you are from the Lone Star State, will there be any nods to Texas on your wedding day?

AT: We both were born and raised in Fort Worth, TX so this is a major theme throughout the wedding. Although, we aren’t taking the typical cowboy approach we are going more of a subtly Southern theme. We are getting married in downtown at the rehearsal venue of Bass Performance Hall. We are incorporating Joe T Garcia’s famous fajitas for dinner (which I highly recommend as Texas staple if you are in town!) We are also having our rehearsal dinner at Cooper’s BBQ for some good ole Texas BBQ in the stockyards the night before. We will also will be doing our first dance to a classic country song. To incorporate the southern feel the girls will be wearing classic seersucker dresses. We will have monograms EVERYWHERE. We will be leaving in a classic horse drawn carriage.

WW: We know you and your fiancé aren’t the biggest cake lovers… can you tell us about your unique wedding dessert idea?

AT: So when we sat down to do the budget we were making adjustment by cutting things. I first said I don’t really like cake let’s not have one. My traditional parents were NOT fans of this idea. Not having cake at wedding was the most bizarre thing ever to them. So one day when we were talking about cakes Jared jokingly said “we should just do Nothing Bundt Cakes.” I replied “Wait, this is actually a genius idea” Jared and I both LOVE Nothing Bundt Cakes and they are super affordable. So we will be having a two tier bundt cake for us to cut and then we will be having little bundtinis for everyone in different flavors to enjoy. In addition, to the bundt cakes Jared was very adamant on having doughnuts. We synced up with a local food truck (Dough Boy Donuts) that specializes in fresh unique doughnuts. So we will be having a full doughnut bar with everything from plain glazed donuts to Oreo donuts and even fruity pebble donuts. The more sweets the better right?
