If you’re planning a wedding, you probably have a lot of questions. How much should I spend? When is the most popular time of year to get married? Which wedding vendors do I need to hire? How many people should I invite? And that’s only the beginning.

WeddingWire surveyed 6,000 couples to find out all the details about planning a wedding, from the average budget (spoiler alert: it’s about $30,000) to the most popular month to get married and much more. This information will help you feel empowered to start your wedding planning adventure (and it is an adventure!) with lots of helpful information at your fingertips. Our biggest take away? Start planning early. The average length of an engagement is about 13 months, so it’s important to start planning as early as possible to make sure you get your pick of wedding dates and vendors—and to avoid going over budget (which about 74% of couples end up doing anyway!).
