8 Jun, 2019The story of our wedding
Our wedding day was pure magic - with the help of a rockstar vendor team, it was even better than we ever imagined! I'm a graphic designer, specializing in wedding invitations and stationery, so I was very excited to create all of my own wedding paper. My husband's sisters own their own wedding planning business, and it was so fun collaborating and sharing the whole experience with them. I lost my mom when I was 14, and my grandmother last year, so I made sure to incorporate them in special ways - a piece of lace from my mom's wedding dress was stiched into the inside of my dress, I reserved the first seat on my side at the ceremony with a wreath and photo of her, and wore my grandmother's gorgeous topaz ring as my "something blue". I also added a lot of fun, personalized details to our decor, such as a bar sign with watercolor portraits of our dogs, and a few things that referenced some of our favorite shows: a cake table runner that says "treat yo self", a phrase from Parks and Rec, and a framed photo of us with the phrase "The One Where Ant and Al Say I Do" in the Friends font. My husbands family is Filipino, so we did the traditional "money dance" during our reception, where guests pin a dollar on the bride and groom to dance with them. We had family and friends travel from all over the world to celebrate our special day: the Philippines, Canada, and even Hong Kong. Everyone to this day tells us how much FUN our wedding was and how they had the best time, and we couldn't agree more!

Our engagement: At the beginning of 2018, I joined the Sweetfave Events team, the wedding planning business that my husband's sisters own. On January 14, I went to The Barns at Hamilton Staiton winery for what I thought was going to be a photo shoot for the website.. turns out it was all a set up! I was posing for my headshot, when out of the corner of my eye, I see Anthony walking towards me. I was confused for half a second, and then it hit me! He hired the photographers to be there - because getting photos of the proposal was one of my requirements! He came up to me and from behind his back handed me a single rose, and asked me if I would accept his final rose (he knows how much I love the Bachelor!) I cracked up laughing and said yes, then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him - and I said yes again! I was overwhelmed with emotions; then I looked around and was glad to see his sisters were able to witness it, then thought for a brief moment that I wished my family were there and how I need to call them and tell them everything. Then he tells me, "oh yeah, by the way, both of our families are here!", and everyone including my dad and sisters, my best friend, my grandma, my aunt and uncle, and the rest of family all start walking out of the barn at the winery cheering and clapping - and I immediately started balling! They all came to congratulate us, and we all enjoyed food and wine in the barn to celebrate. He knows my love for wineries, the Bachelor, and surprises - so he really knocked it out of the park!
