10 Jun, 2019The story of our wedding
We got married on June 10, 2019 in Kona Hawaii at the Holualoa Inn. We got married here in Hawaii because we both live here and work for the same non-profit. Our community is also here and we really wanted to get married where the majority of our community is and our family members flew in.
We met actually in Berlin has Ben led a short term team to Alyssa. A couple months after that we started to date. We dated 3 months long distance and 3 months in person in Kona.
On March 10th 2019, Ben proposed to me. He created a plan with my best friends. I thought I was hanging out at the beach with my best friends and as we walked to the entrance of the beach I saw Ben. He was standing on a white sheet with greenery all around. In the middle of the sheet was a ring box. I immediately knew what was about to happen. He got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife. Of course, I said yes! Then out of the rocks and the bushes were my friends. One of them even filmed it for us.

We fell in love with the Holualoa Inn. It was beautiful, cooler, and had a breathtaking view. I got ready with bridesmaids that morning in their Red Barn. While our friends were finishing up with the last minute touches. At 11am was our ceremony. Our friends composed a song and played it as I walked down the aisle.
After the ceremony we got our pictures done. While we were doing that we had different lawn games and an endless about of flavored sparkling water for everyone.
We strolled straight into lunch pretty much there at the inn. Our tables for the reception were long, family style tables. We had a 16ft charcuterie table that was a piece of artwork to behold all on its' own. It was overflowing with different kinds of meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, vegetables, dips, dried fruit, bread, chocolate covered items. For dessert we had different kinds of pies that our friends wanted to make, and with that we served coffee.
Our decor was filled with greenery, blush, blues, and creams. We had chandeliers over the tables that were all greenery with cream roses in them. Our plates were clear with a gold rim. My flowers were cream-colored roses with blush-colored baby king proteas. We had different types of eucalyptus as well. It was very romantic and we loved everything about that day.
