25 Jun, 2022The story of our wedding
Brian proposed to me midnight on my birthday, a very gemini thing to do(I am a libra). We had a trip up to Seattle with some of my closes girlfriends(all my bridesmaids) and he wanted to kick off the weekend with a bang!
Our wedding was a blending of two cultures, with a contemporary garden party, a pinterest board brought to life! We got married on our 8 year anniversary, 6.25.22! We honestly had the best time planning our wedding and totally helped bring date nights back espeically in the midst of covid. It definetly brought us even closer together. I could ramble on and on about our wedding so I will try and keep it "brief!"
Because I am Laotian and Brian is Vietnamese, we had the opportunity to celebrate and pay hommage to both our cultures. We had a tradtional Lao Ceremony on friday. Traditionally, the groom gets paraded from his home to the brides home with people drinking and dancing along the way, celebrating the groom on his way to pick up his bride. Obviously we can't do that here, so we had a condensed version!

We had the BEST vendor team who pulled off, in my opinion, the BEST wedding ever! We had over 350 people in attendance and you always hear about wedding horror stories and expect the worse being a bride, but it was flawless!
My favorite moments looking back, was the surpise speech my dad gave. He had spent the entire day while we were all celebrating our lao ceremony, practicing his speech(i found out). I am an only child and a total daddy's girl so it was everything to me. You can see in the pictures what a truly special moment it was for me.
Another precious moment for Brian and I, was having our 13yo pug, O'ryan with us. He is our furbaby and was the cutest thing to see as I walked down the aisle. He also sponsored the open bar of henny vsop and don julio, I heard everyone was super happy about that!
We also got to bring both our cultures to the reception! We had Lion Dancers(Brian used to be one) to open up the reception and to honor my Lao culture, our first dance, was a tradtional Lao dance. It was honestly a dream. I have dreamt of this day for as long as I could remember and reality was a million times better. It was so beautiful to see my contemporary wedding with both our cultures tastefuly tied in.
