18 Aug, 2019The story of our wedding
Amy and David got married on 8/18/19 at The Garland Hotel in North Hollywood, in their secret garden called Beverly Park, and dinner reception inn Beverly Park West, a converted tennis court. They live in NYC and had been together for 4+ years. The couple chose LA because the bride's family lives there, specifically her 92 year old grandmother who walked her down the aisle. Also, the weather is much more predictable than the East Coast!
A few things they knew they wanted for their wedding right away were 1) completely outdoors and 2) nothing matchy-matchy or traditional. Bridesmaids wore bright jumpsuits and dresses and groomsmen wore shades of navy with pops of color and floral printed accents. The flowers were a tropical-funky vibe, full of yellows and pinks. The bride wore a Bill Levkoff blush gown she bought at a bridesmaid dress store! She then changed into an off the shoulder white comfortable summer dress she found online the week before. The groom wore a beige Tommy Hillfiger suit from Macy's, with a custom shrit from IndoChino, pocket square from Banana Republic, and tie from The Tie Bar.

The two never cared about seeing each other prior, especially since they had gone shopping with one another for their suit and gown! The pictures started at around 2, and were done by 4 in time for the ceremony. It felt so organized and seamless. Right before the ceremony, in that same conference room, the bride and groom and their parents (bride's father and groom's mother) signed their Ketubah and marriage license with their rabbi. Everything fell into place perfectly.
The ceremony began with welcome champagne for everyone, tropical program fans on the chairs, and personalized pink kippot. It was short, sweet, and personal, Cocktail hour was fun- full of lawn games, a taco bar, margaritas, and passed apps. Dinner reception was beautiful, with plenty of space in the tennis court. There was a mix of long rectangle tables and smaller round tables, with the 3 rectangles framing a dance area. The newlyweds sat under a neon sign that the venue owns, attached to hedges they use for events. Amy and David dined on short ribs and salmon, drank to a few touching toasts, and danced with each other, their parents, and then the hora. Dessert was a beautiful pink ombre wedding cake (marble with chocolate chip filling), and an ice cream sandwich cart. The couple danced all night long to a mix of their favorite songs of all time with 120 of their favorite people of all time.
