26 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
We got married on a gorgeous fall weekend in October at our country church. For several weeks leading up to our wedding, the weather forecast was predicting rain and chilly temperatures! However, on the morning of our wedding, the sun came out and we were blessed with 80-degree weather all weekend. We transformed our church building for both our ceremony and our reception with drapery, lights, greenery, and florals. I hand-lettered our signs and banners, and David built the arch for our ceremony using the same wood from an arch he built for me when he proposed to me a year earlier on the land where we are building our future home. It was so special to me to incorporate such personal, handmade aspects into our day. One of the biggest hits with our guests was the espresso bar at our reception. We danced the night away and left with a sparkler send-off. The following day, we went to the Blue Ridge Mountains for our couple portraits. We loved how it took some of the rush and pressure off our photo time after the ceremony, and we were also able to join our guests at the reception sooner. The day seemed to fly by, but we cherished every moment of having all our loved ones together in the same place.
