11 Nov, 2022The story of our wedding
Jeff and I met playing a sport called Ultimate frisbee over 8 years ago. One night when we were out with a group of mutual friends, I shared my beer and he told me he loved to read and here we are. We got engaged at a big beach ultimate tournament in Wildwood NJ in 2021. We had bonded over playing ultimate, reading and our love of video games over the years and these are all the small things you see included on our wedding day.
We are more of an alternative style couple with tattoos and a love of spooky things but make it cozy. Like an old gothic library. We wanted our day to express who we are as a couple with our till death and love of reading theme. We had a very moody vibe with darker colors of black and wine red. Lots of candles and lights to get a cozy moody vibe that day. It just happened to rain all day so that kind of helped our planed moody vibe. We had small details of things we made that express the things we love, like reading. We named all our tables after authors we love with our favorite quotes. I made a neon till death sign to hang behind us during the ceremony and reception. Our giant donut topper (instead of cake) was two computer mice since we are PC gamers. Everything was to celebrate who we are.

I am a hair stylist so my co-workers came to the hotel to do our hair and make up. It was the best morning. The Guys met in another room to get ready also, just not as early.
We were big on doing the first look, which was such a great idea to have a moment for just the two of us and I guess also our photographers and videographer but they were so amazing. I love that we got most of our pictures done before the ceremony. It means we got to attend our cocktail hour for a little bit.
I think my favorite moment of the day was before the ceremony we went back to our hotel room with our wedding party and our friend who was marrying us to sign our license. It was a great moment with important people. We got to use the shot ski my aunt had made for us to prepare the nerves before the ceremony and toss around an ultimate disc. It was very us.
Our ceremony was non religious and focus on our love and commitment to one another. We wrote love notes instead of vows, where we both shared a book quote that reminded us of each other.
During cocktail hour we actually got to attend and talk to people. Our photo booth attendee made sure Jeff and I got to use it before we had introductions and dancing. Which there was a lot of dancing! Some of my favorite photos are from everyone dancing and I had no idea I would love those so much.
It was absolutely the perfect day and night! So much love to all of our vendor and family and friends that helped make it so.
