15 Sep, 2018The story of our wedding
In the spring, we had bought a house in Philadelphia, which we completely renovated over the summer. The day after we finally moved in he told me we were going out to dinner to celebrate the milestone of us living in our first house together. When I got home the lights were dim, there were candles lit and a vase of roses on our kitchen table. When I turned around to thank him, he had gotten down on one knee and popped the question. Immediately afterwards, he suggested we go up to our roof deck for a glass of champagne before we went out to dinner. When we got upstairs, I saw that both of our families were up on the roof deck waiting for us! It was so amazing that both of our families were there to help us celebrate.
We knew right away that we wanted to have our wedding at Springfield Country Club. This location is special to me because I grew up knowing many of the staff that worked there over the years and then eventually ended up working for the Springfield Country Club in the marketing department. It is a place that holds a special place in my heart. Jeff and I put together an amazing team of vendors to bring to life the wedding of our dreams. Our inspiration for the wedding was the Tuscan countryside. Before getting engaged, Jeff and I had traveled to Europe, where we fell in love with Italy. For our wedding, we wanted to make people feel like they were transported to a wedding in Tuscany that felt natural, romantic and intimate. The inspiration for the décor was outdoor Tuscan wedding with lots of greenery. Each room we used at Springfield Country Club, we tried to incorporate this. The outside entrance, we had tressels hanging from the ceiling where greenery and flowers dangled among tons of potted plants. In the lobby, we wanted to create an Italian garden aesthetic. We put benches, candles, potted plants with flowers, Italian statues, and a water fountain in the middle. For cocktail hour, we wanted the feel of an Italian market. Finally for the reception, we had greenery everywhere. Dripping from the chandeliers, trees coming out of the tables. It was absolutely beautiful and exceeded all of my expectations!

There were a ton of fun extra details. We had The Roving Bar’s prosecco truck outside the entrance of Springfield Country Club for guests to enjoy as they were walking inside for cocktail hour. We wanted to make a statement even before our guests entered the building. We had someone cutting fresh prosciutto sliced in front of you at cocktail hour to keep the Tuscan theme. We had fireworks at sunset to bring an end to cocktail hour. Chico’s Vibe trumpets led the guests from cocktail hour into the Grand Ballroom for the reception. Lastly, we had a smoked bourbon bar with dessert since Jeff’s favorite drink is whiskey on the rocks.
We could not pick a favorite part of our wedding day because every minute was absolutely spectacular! We will never forget our special day and we just want to thank the Springfield Country Club, their staff and all are other amazing vendors for making our wedding the most unforgettable experience ever! They literally made our dreams come true.
