4 Apr, 2020The story of our wedding
We got engaged on June 7th, 2019 on our couch in our living room. It was cute and funny and special! We already knew what we wanted to plan for our wedding, so putting together the details was easy!
We had originally planned to get married on April 10th, 2020 in a beautiful garden venue in Alexandria, Va with our immediate families. However, with the pandemic going on, our venue canceled. We had also planned a family cookout the next day with 50 close family and friends. That venue also canceled. We wanted to wait for our original date, but decided to get married a week early, on April 4th, at our apartment. Our families were stuck at home because of the Stay at Home orders and for safety reasons so we had our officiant and Best Man in attendance, and our families watching on Zoom.
I decorated our apartment a bit, wrapped flowers around our back patio's railings, and added a green rug to give it a "garden" feel. I did my own hair, painted my own nails, put on my own makeup, and had my fiance help me with my dress. Our Best Man took photos before, during, and after our ceremony. Our officiant gave the best ceremony and read a writing by one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman.

While it was FAR from our original plans, it was absolutely beautiful, intimate, funny, and perfect. We look forward to celebrating with our families in person, once the pandemic is over!
