31 Mar, 2018The story of our wedding
Kellan and I met on January 20, 2006. Our first movie was 'Underworld: Evolution', an epic tale of war between vampires and werewolves. Right then and there, our love for sci-fi and horror movies evolved into our love for one another. My favorite franchise is the 'Alien' series while his is 'Star Wars'. At just nineteen years old then, we knew we had to grow and that we did through so many ups and downs. We became an official couple on November 5 of that year. Ten years later, Kellan proposed to me in the Catskills amongst the fall foliage after hiking. As we planned our wedding, we knew we wanted to reflect our love for sci-fi and horror movies. Our research showed that it was easier to implement the sci-fi themes into a wedding theme. During our planning, 'Game of Thrones' was in its sixth season with a soundtrack that truly encompassed the epic nature of the show. This just translated into what Kellan and I felt like we needed to walk to at our wedding. We met with Marlon Almonte of Touch of Sound, LLC who was able to recreate this experience for us. We were to have a Spring wedding and we were so lucky to have one day in March between two snow storms where the weather was beautiful for our ceremony to be outside. After the ceremony, we gathered our light sabers and battled our way into the reception as our friends and family cheered on. Us and the wedding party entered the reception room to the various tracks from the 'Star Wars' franchise. Our first dance was to N*Sync's 'This I Promise You' as we danced in the clouds like in 'La La Land', one of our favorite romance movies. Marlon and his crew were able to recreate this as well with great success which made the day spectacular. For extra entertainment, Touch of Sound hosted the popular wedding "shoe game" in between best man speeches, a mix of Trinidadian Soca, Haitian Kompa and a curated selection of contemporary American music. All of this took place at the Crest Hollow Country Club, whose staff provided us with excellent serevice and worked well with all the vendors. The decorations were provided by Jack and Rose Florists to complete a perfect day. As the last song played, we couldn't believe thre day was over. Accomodations were provided by The Inn at Fox Hollow, where we also hosted the reheral dinner and post-wedding brunch. The memory of a lifetime was completed in the blink of an eye, but we wouldn't have changed a thing.
