21 Jun, 2020The story of our wedding
We had to redo just about everything when COVID-19 hit. Our original venue was way to big and too expensive and they refused to work with us beyond rescheduling our wedding, which wasn’t an option, or doing ceremony now, reception later. We ended up having a backyard wedding at Michael’s grandparents farm. The ceremony overlooked the gorgeous pond and his grandma had her florist whip up these beautiful alter arrangements. We kept working with my original florist who was able to make the 2+ hour trip to Ohio to deliver flowers for the arbor, reception, and bouquets. I was so anxious since I spent an entire year planning an amazing wedding for all our friends and family. I had no idea how it would turn out since I planned the new wedding in about 2 weeks in April. I was able to keep vendors like my photographer and makeup artist, but had to find hew people for DJing and hair and rentals. It was crazy. As I pulled up to the ceremony site with my dad in the LaSalle, I looked over and there were cops pulling up?! Turns out, my Fiancé’s aunt’s family had their car break down and a few police officers rushed them over for us, just in time! Our reception tent was stunning, the rental place had used these incredible drapes that made the tent feel more warm and beautiful. Since it was Father’s Day, my new sisters and I, along with our dads, danced to Meghan Trainor’s “Dance Like Yo Daddy”, quite a treat for our guests! To round out the day, a huge storm started coming out way just as we were leaving. We headed off for our honeymoon just before the rain started! Perfect timing, but the strong wind did make the dried flowers people threw at us on our exit walk feel like pelting hail. Wouldn’t have changed a thing. The wedding was better than I could have imagined. I enjoyed every second of it! Our families worked so hard to help us be relaxed about the changes and it turned out probably being better than my original wedding plan. News flash to my past self, stop stressing and go with your gut! It’ll turn out great either way you do it.
