5 Sep, 2021The story of our wedding
The wedding and wedding weekend took place in the gorgeous and picturesque lake town of Cazenovia, in Upstate New York. Held in the Bride's hometown at a quaint at The Brae Loch, a Scottish Inn, the Bridal Party spent the morning getting ready over mimosas and laughs in the house where the Bride grew up while the Groom and groomsmen relaxed in front of a fire at the Brae Loch before festivities began. It was important for the Bride and Groom to incorporate elements of her Catholic and Jewish upbringing and his Greek heritage throughout the day, scattered with several other personal touches that guests would appreciate. The entire wedding was orchestrated and designed by Rachael Demling, Owner and Founder of RD Events and Design.
The Bride wore a timeless and elegant Rita Vinieris gown, with a cathedral-length veil. Her hair was done up, with simple makeup to make her blue eyes pop. Her "something blue" was a sapphire diamond gifted to her by her late grandmother and she accentuated the classiness of the dress with a vibrant crystal hair piece and jewelry. Her bridesmaids wore silver dresses by Birdy Grey and the Bride's younger brother served as her Man of Honor. The three flower girls wore soft pink dresses. The bouquet was a mixture of ivory garden roses and ranunculus with white hydrangeas mixed with eucalyptus. Hanging from the bouquet was a picture of the Bride's father, who passed away four years prior but who she insisted would still "walk her down the aisle."

The Bride and Groom did their first look at the entry way of her childhood home. The weather was not only perfect for the day but for pictures - not too sunny and a beautiful 72 degrees. A 1950s forest-green vintage car drove them to the ceremony after family portraits. The couple was able to catch a last-minute picture with their Goldendoodle puppy, a favorite memory for both of them. Upon arriving at the ceremony, guests were seated in a ceiling-lit tent with candles lining parts of the aisle. The copper arch was adorned with the same lush flowers as the bride's bouquet. The Bride was walked down the aisle by her two older brothers. The officiant, a dear friend of the couple, spoke about their love for one another and what they have endured together in their 8+ years. A reading was done by a close family friend in honor of the Bride's late father. Once the pronouncement was done, a bagpipe player appeared to begin the recessional and get the party started.
Guests were escorted to the cocktail hour, which was held inside the Brae Loch Inn. They feasted on bacon-wrapped scallops, spanikopita, lamb lollipops, and more. There was also a champagne toast. Immediately following the ceremony, the photographer and videographer brought the Bride and Groom to the lake for pictures (champagne glasses in hand) to have a quiet moment together. Bagpipes came back to announce the start of the reception, where the seven-piece band welcomed the entire Wedding Party and the Bride and Groom had their first dance as husband and wife to Ellie Goulding's "How Love Will I Love You." The Bride danced with her three brothers to "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban to honor their late father after the Mother-Son Dance.
Small touches were scattered throughout the reception that were personal to the couple. Living in Texas, they had "Cheers, y'all" items and three specialty drinks for guests, including "Mikey's Mule" for the Groom. Paying tribute to the Groom's Greek heritage, favors called "koufeta" were available to guests to take. The romantic dinner tent featured a mix of high and low arrangements of white and ivory roses, lush greens, floating candles, and strung lights under the draped tulle ceiling. Touches of gold were added in throughout all of the decor, including candle matches as favors at each seat that had "The Perfect Match" written in gold. Guests feasted on filet mignon, salmon, and stuffed Mediterranean chicken. A dear friend said a prayer before dinner to honor the couple while the Bride's brothers, Mother, and the Groom's brother, the Best Man, made toasts.
The band opened the dance floor with Havah Nagila to get the party started and it remained crowded the entire night. While taking breaks, guests flocked to the dessert table to choose from an assortment of eight desserts, ranging from specially made "L&M" cinnamon cookies to macarons and a s'mores bar. Guests danced the night away with a few surprise songs thrown in for the Bride and Groom and ended the night with Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," a favorite of the couple. The night ended with a sparker exit for the Bride and Groom. As their good friend put it the next day, "Last night was not your typical, cookie-cutter wedding, and that's what made it so epic and magical."
