The story of our wedding

My husband and I got married at Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, which was the church we both grew up in, and celebrated with a reception at The Toledo Zoo! We absolutely LOVED having our reception at the Zoo. Our wedding's theme was Disney, and the Toledo Zoo's Malawi Event Center, with a cocktail hour at the Africa! Overlook prior. The Malawi Event Center has a giant, 60-foot aquarium as the main room's feature, and that allowed for an amazing backdrop to our reception and the pictures from our wedding day.

My husband and I went to Perrysburg High School, so having our wedding and reception in our home town, and at our home church, was really special. I had a personal desire to have my wedding at the Toledo Zoo due to how unique that would allow our special day to be, along with the amazing service the Zoo provides to its guests.

The staff at the Zoo created the most memorable day and experience for us and our guests, and we loved every single moment from our wedding. I made all of the decorations for the tables and the reception, had a local baker friend make a cookie table instead of having a traditional wedding cake, and we had a friend as our MC and DJ, which allowed for a very personal and intimate reception. The food was outstanding, and we even had a mashed potato bar, which our guests seemed to love.
