THEIR STORY:
Mougeh and Sina met in college at UC Irvine in the Spring of 2005. Mougeh and her friend hosted a party at their apartment. Sina attended with a mutual friend and saw a girl with a gorgeous smile sitting on the kitchen counter. He was immediately taken by her beauty and her energy. Fun-loving and light-hearted, she floated from group to group sharing laughs and making sure the guests were enjoying themselves. He was smitten right then and there - he knew there was something different about this girl, something that made him feel something new.
Fast forward to 2009, the two star-crossed lovers overlapped for one year in San Francisco as Mougeh finished her final year of law school and Sina began his first year of dental school. Sina reached out under the guise of wanting to learn about his new city from a local, never mind the fact that his his older sister already lived there. His plan worked and he was able to capture her attention for a short while, but their rigorous schedules didn’t allow for the proper attention to their relationship. Looking back, it was during this time that they created the foundation for the bond that set them on the course that brought them together in the end.
Continue reading »Fast foward again to 2015. Mougeh was a Los Angeles District Attorney and Sina a dentist and business owner in Dallas, Texas. After being separated by graduations, new careers, and different states, Sina reached out once again to see if Mougeh would be interested in meeting for coffee in Los Angeles. She obliged. It was this meeting that would change their lives in a grand way. Sina was forever changed from that moment on. Their love was so clear and intense that their wedding day was no longer a matter of if but of when.
A year after that coffee date that changed everything, Sina proposed to Mougeh in San Francisco overlooking the golden gate bridge. Mougeh moved to Dallas and the rest is history.
The years that passed between each of these momentous events were years that allowed each of them to grow personally and professionally. Their love was always destined to be, and they have now begun to care for and nourish their love in ways that will bring joy and happiness to them and their families for years to come.
In short, their story is about the girl at the party and the boy who never forgot her.
WEDDING OVERVIEW:
The bride designed this rustic-chic event herself, which took place on a beautiful summer day at the Hummingbird's Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, CA. The ceremony incorporated neutrals with hints of blush and antique golds, while the reception, which took place under 300 braided lights installed in the trees, incorporated soft neutral tones with pops of color to honor summertime in California. The bride and groom, who are both Iranian-American, incorporated a modern "deconstructed" version of the traditional Persian "Sofreh" in their ceremony, comprising of vintage gold and marble european tables which were placed inside four wooden posts draped in blush chiffon and neutral toned flowers. For the reception, 300 braided lights were installed in the olive trees, dripping over the dance floor and guest tables. These lights took two weeks to hand braid and hours to hang amidst hundred foot trees. Long rustic wood French tables draped with dusty rose linen runners lined the white dance floor. Antique crystal goblets, rose gold place settings, and antique patterned white china created a romantic and elegant feel. As the sun set, the braided lights twinkled like stars. The scenery all around was magical and whimsical as guests dined amidst the trees.
DETAILED WEDDING SYNOPSIS:
CEREMONY:The bride and groom, who are both Iranian-American, incorporated a modern version of the traditional Persian "Sofreh" in their ceremony. The bride designed a deconstructed sofreh comprising of various vintage european tables in shades of gold and ivory, an oversized antique mirror, and hundred year-old antique crystal bowls and candelabras, two of which were passed down by the bride's grandmother.
The "Sofreh" was built inside large wooden posts draped in blush chiffon fabric and neutral colored flowers such as peonies, dahlias, garden roses, and hydrangeas, with dusty green vines to compliment the lush venue and echo the rustic theme. The ceremony chairs were classic french cane back chairs in weathered wood and natural linen fabric to echo the soft neutral romantic tones of the wedding. The bright summer grass was lined with ivory rose petals and the start of the aisle was signified by various glass lanterns on wooden pedestals draped with neutral flowers and vines.
The bride wore a romantic blush Monique Lhuillier lace gown and ivory crushed velvet Giuseppe Zanotti heels. She carried a timeless and elegant Lilly of the Valley bouquet, with flowers flown in from Amsterdam, as her name translates to Lilly of the Valley in French.
The bride and groom did not have a "first look". They wanted to see each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle. They said their vows in between two massive olive trees which came together creating a beautiful silhouette as the sun beamed through the branches. Their ceremony was officiated by both the groom's best friend and groom's cousin, telling intimate stories about the couple's love story. The wedding party consisted of the groom's two sisters, the groom's brother-in -law, the groom's 4 year old niece, and the bride and groom's parents.
RECEPTION:The bride and groom wanted the guests to feel like they were dining and dancing underneath the stars on a warm summer night. To play off of that idea, they added 300 braided lights to all of the olive trees on their reception site. These lights took two weeks to braid and hours to hang amidst hundred foot trees. The reception mirrored the ceremony by exhibiting soft neutral notes, however this time, adding pops of bright florals to honor the summer season.
FOOD: The bride, a health food blogger, wanted to create a fine dining experience for her guests. With the help of her caterer Made By Meg, they created a 5-course plated dinner consisting of small plates. The menu consisted of a summer grilled peach and roquefort cheese salad, seared cod with miso sesame butter, fig and carneros petit braised short rib, a meyer lemon sorbet as a palette cleanser, and a raspberry tart with bourbon whipped cream for dessert. A lemon buttercream cake was served later in the night and tray passed saffron rosewater ice cream sandwiches were a late night snack, which paid homage to the bride and groom's Iranian roots. A conga drummer played all night to persian, EDM, and hip hop music as the guests danced underneath the stars. This was ultimate mid-summer night's dream.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY:During cocktail hour the bride and groom climbed the Santa Susana mountains with photographer Kayci Decker to take stunning sunset photographs on the mountain top. Meanwhile, photographer Allison Maginn took details photos.
