13 Jul, 2019The story of our wedding
We got engaged on Rocky Mountain 06/18/2018, I thought that was just a birthday trip for me (6.13), but on top of the mountain he proposed to me. I was in ugly hoodie at that time, but who cares lol. We picked the wedding date because it is the three year anniversary we know each other.
We were a little bit procrasinated when we first got engaged and were enjoying life until around January 2019. When it's just half a year, everything seemed so close and we started to make progress. We first picked our venue, the English Inn. Although it's around 1.5 hours from our house, the style and the view attracted us too much that we had to book there. It was actually winter time when we toured the venue and did the tasting later, so we couldn't see the landscaping by that time. But when summer comes and when we did our rehearsal the day before, it was a great surprise to us. Everything was what i have been imaging for a perfect wedding - a wonderful outdoor pergola set in front of water, a beautiful hall for reception, happy hour was set at the outside deck of the reception hall. Our venue covers everything - food, drink, cake, ceremony, and guest accommodation. This saves us so much effort as we were already late when we started planning things.

We booked our engagement photo session, wedding photographer, videographer, DJ, and photobooth with them. The team did not let me down. We have received more than 450 pictures just within a month, and we received our wedding trailer. They are so good at capture moments! Our DJ Eddie also did a great job, and our party went crasy!
The only other vendors we hired is our make up artist and hair artist. They covered me, my husband, and the two moms. Our wedding party did their own hair and makeup, which saved us some money.
We did not hire a wedding planner, so most of the preparing work fall onto my husband and me. I used WeddingWire as a great resource looking at real weddings, forum, and the articles posted here. These gave me great ideas of what i wanted. However, the downside of not hiring a wedding planner is that it might lead to a bit of chaos on the wedding day lol. As soon as i started my hair and make up, i cannot work on the decor anymore. Thanks to my friends and families, they helped with decor, flower, and coordinated things.
We also did the flower by ourselves. Flowers were ordered from Costco, Sams Club, and Fifty Flowers the month before our wedding, and were delivered to door by Wednesday and Thursday before our wedding on Saturday. The flower were in great condition. We used blue hydrangea, peach and white rose, orange spray roses, some peach color berries, and lots of greenery. Blue and Orange were our wedding color since those are the color of my school and my husband's school (go heels and go tigers!) My mother helped me preparing all flowers on Wed and Thu, and on Fri we took all flowers in new Lowe's bucket to the venue and start arranging them Friday afternoon. The bouquets were arranged by my bridesmaids and me on the day of the wedding, and it was harder than i imagined but still was a fun experience for all of us.
My husband and I read the letter we wrote to each other before our wedding, and exchanged gifts. There were lots and lots of tears during that part. We then had our first look, and we cried our heart out. I didn't imagine my husband could cry since he is a very calm person normaly, but that they we all couldn't control ourselves.
My cousin was the officiant of our ceremony. He is like my older brother to me and my husband. Another cousin of mine played the MC during the reception. She was so funny and everyone had a great time. Our parents flew all the way from China to attend our wedding, and lots of famillies and friends flew from all over the US to come to our wedding. It was also a great reunion for all of us.
Now it's a month from our wedding, and we still can remember all little details during the day. We hope we can remember all the happiness forever, and we hope we can keep our vows foever :)))
